5 Things I'm Looking Forward to Most About Spring
Spring is just around the corner and I cannot wait. After weeks and weeks of non-stop rain, it will be lovely to finally have some sun and a bit of blue sky. Not to mention the garden starts to come back to life again and we all see a bit of colour and greenery once again as it signals a new season. We can all see that I'm yearning for spring to come into full bloom, but why? Here are five things I'm looking forward to most about spring this year:
1. Lighter nights
We're already seeing brighter nights, but spring often means we get to see a bit of daylight long into the evening, sometimes up until 6pm. I think spring, for me, promises the start of longer days to come, and that's something I'm really looking forward to experiencing after months of dark, cold and wet weather.
2. Sunshine
You might have forgotten what sunshine is, and what it looks like. But don't worry, because spring will hopefully remind us all of what glorious sun is and why beer gardens exist! Not only does spring promise longer days, but sunnier ones as well, and I can't wait to finally experience a bit of warmth. No, where did I put my sunglasses?!
3. Tulips
I love tulips. Aside from Peonies, they're my absolute favourite flowers. But seeing as I can't get my hands on any Peonies until May and June, spring is on hand to give me a bit of glorious colour in the form of gorgeous tulips. I love them because of their shape, their stems and the colours that they bloom in. I like to get a different colour every couple of weeks, adorning my new kitchen with a pop of spring colour.
4. Easter
There's something about Easter that I just love. It's something that signals new life, new beginnings and the end of the winter season. Not to mention there's also chocolate involved, and who doesn't love that?! There's also something nice about having a bit of time off work during the better weather and getting the family together for a lamb roast dinner. It's just another thing to look forward to as we enter the second quarter of the year.
5. Fresh garden blooms
As spring begins, we start to see plants and gardens in bloom, with buds ready to open as the weather gets warmer. It signals promise of new life as our gardens begin to wake up again after a long winter sleep. You can almost see trees and shrubs stretching and yawning as they come back to life. I just want to see a bit of colour again. I know when spring is fully underway when our Peonies start to sprout and I await their gorgeous fluffy petalled heads.
