Cookbooks & Recipes I Swear By
Believe it or not, I love to cook and bake food. Where I probably bake more than I cook, I still love to whip out a good recipe and create something a little different. Although this is a little more difficult to do right now what with the supermarkets still not being fully stocked, but you do what you can with what you have during the current situation.
Even so, I thought I'd share with you some of my favourite cookbooks and some of my favourite recipes within them. If you'd like the full recipe, then ask my via my social media links (at the end of this post). Enjoy :)
The Avocado Cookbook by Heather Thomas
I love avocados, I love them on their own, in a salad, mixed in with pasta - the works. I could have it in a sandwich, on toast or dipped in hummus...yes, hummus! It's a game changer, trust me on that :) This book is super simple, the recipe is easy to follow and you only really need basic products, including (you guessed it) an avocado. So make sure you have one of those to hand and you'll be able to make pretty much anything in this cookbook! If you love the avos as much as I do, then buy this book, you won't go back.
Cordially Invited by Zoe Sugg
Now, I'm not the biggest fan of Zoe Sugg and this book hasn't really changed my mind on that one, but to be fair, this is quite an interesting concept. It's not really a book dedicated to cooking or baking, it's a book all about how to make guests feel welcome and comfortable when they come to visit. Of course, this is a tad redundant right now, but concealed within it lies a fair few recipes and they're pretty delicious. My copy is signed, which is a happy coincidence as I just picked it up off the shelf in good ol' Sainsbury's and didn't realise it was signed until I got home, but it was a nice touch.
Fast Cakes - Easy Bakes in Minutes by Mary Berry
Now this book is perfect for those who love some homemade sweet treats to munch on. and what's more, this one is signed! I actually got to meet Mary Berry at the BBC Good Food Winter Show in December 2018 (read the blog post here). The whole point of it was to get a book signed by her as well, so not only did we have a little conversation, she also signed this cookbook - how cool is that?!
Anyway, I digress! This is full of all the cakes, pies, buns and biscuits you could ever think to make! There's even a whole chapter dedicated to baking with your children, so it's ideal for families. Whether you're looking to fill your time with making tasty goodies or are looking for something to do with the kids, then this book is perfect! Again, you'll only need basic ingredients, so you may not even have to go to the shops to buy supplies at all to get stuck in with some of these recipes!
Mary Berry Cooks the Perfect Step by Step
Yes, it's the queen of all things cookery again, but for good reason! This book actually contains some dinner recipes as well as some baking recipes, so you're covered for both sweet and savoury with this book. From breakfast and lunch to picnic bites and loaf cakes, you'll find something in it that you can easily cook or bake and that everyone will love.
Mary Berry's Complete Cookbook
This is a big ol' boy in comparison to the previous books I've showcased here. Much like the last one, this book is perfect for both dinner and pudding depending on your needs or even what mood you're in. The recipes are all different to the previous book so don't be concerned that you're getting duplicates of the same thing, I mean, shes very innovative our Mary, isn't she? I got a very good deal on this book, bagging it for just £10 in Sainsbry's as opposed to the RRP which was around three times that - but to be honest, I'd have bought this book at full price anyway, it's that good! And yes, I did make a swiss roll once (I was super proud of myself)!
