I Made a Hearty Slow Cooker Chilli Con Carne & You Can Too

Chilli Con Carne is perfect this time of year. It's warm, filling and contains just the right amount of spice and flavour. It's also exceptionally quick and easy to make, but it still requires some time and effort when done in a pan.

Recently, we've been preparing up our chilli con carne in the slow cooker while we've been working and trust me, it's an absolute game changer. Even the rice isn't a problem as we go for the packets that can cook in 2 minutes in the microwave. So how can you simmer up a chilli con carne in your slow cooker? Let me tell you :)

Prep time: 10 minutes

Cook time: 2/2.5 hours

Serves: 4

Ingredients

*500g 5% fat beef mince
*170g Homepride Slow Cooker Chilli Con Carne sauce
*400g kidney beans
*400g chopped tomatoes
*2 diced onions
*260g dried basmati rice or x2 packets of Ben's Original basmati rice

Method

Step one: brown the mince meat in a sauce pan
Step two: once browned, throw in the diced onions and kidney beans
Step three: stir in the chopped tomatoes and warm through slightly
Step four: tip in the chilli con carne sauce and mix well
Step five: pour the mixture into your slow cooker, cover and leave on low for 2-2.5 hours
Step six: once the chilli has cooked, boil it for around 10-15 minutes or place both packets of Ben's Original rice in the microwave and heat for 4 minutes
Step seven: serve and enjoy! Try it with some poppadoms
