Everything I Loved in April

I feel like April went incredibly quickly, more so than any other month so far this year, actually. It might be because it's been a busy one, but I still managed to create a list of things I loved throughout the month, from renovation completions to reality television, let's delve into everything I have loved throughout the month of April!

Our newly-renovated hallway, stairs & landing

We finally completed out hallway, stairs and landing renovation this month and we're so happy with it! I won't include any pictures on here because I want to do a whole blog post about it, so you'll be sure to see some before, during and after photos on there. But I just wanted to include this as something I have loved this April, so keep your eyes peeled for the dedicated blog post :)

Being made god parents

This month, our friends christened their son and they gave us the honour of being his god parents. This is something I was so touched by and I felt like it needed a mention on this month's favourites blog post. I do have some pictures of the day, but I won't share them on here as it includes our god son's face! But you can imagine how big my smile was, haha.

Celebrating a big birthday

This month, one of our family members celebrated a big birthday. We all went out together and had a wonderful meal at the local restaurant. We then all came back to our house for some drinks and just to chill out. It also gave family members a chance to see the renovations we had completed on the hallway. But it was a very special day, all in all, and something I'll remember for a long time to come.

Married at First Sight: Australia

We're not usually ones for watching reality television, but this is something we have been watching since before Covid. We then became even more obsessed with it over lockdown and we have watched every single season since, with this year being no exception. It's filled with all the drama and revelations that you might expect, which is probably why we keep coming back for more. The only downside? It ends soon :(

Micky Flanagan

Technically, this was on the very last day of March, but I'm classing it as something that happened in April so I couldn't actually put it in my March favourites. But anyway, we went to see Micky Flanagan live at Birmingham's NIA and it was absolutely fantastic.

I left the venue with a face that was sore from laughing, it was that funny! I won't put any of his material out there in case you're booked in to see him soon, but trust me, you won't be left disappointed. I actually wrote an entire blog post about our experience, so if you want to read that, you can take a look here.

Having a week off work

This month, we booked off the week before Easter in order to get as much time off as possible. We spent it running a lot of errands, drinking a shed tonne of coffee and just generally enjoying each other's company. It makes me want to do it every single month, but we obviously can't, haha. It was something that really stood out for me this month, hence why it has made it onto my list.

Our new oven

Our old oven packed up on Good Friday, just as I was going to bung a homemade lasagne in there. So that was a hassle dealing with that, but at the same time, we had the excitement of choosing a new range cooker. We opted for a Leisure range cooker with three ovens and a five-ring gas hob. Essentially, it's a dual-fuel cooker and is rated A for energy efficiency, which is great for gas and electricity bills. The first, and smallest, of the ovens acts as an oven when the door is closed and a grill when the door is left open.

The one under that is the same size, if not a tad smaller, than a conventional electric oven, whereas the one on the right is a larger, longer oven that I can use to cook multiple things in. So far, we're loving it and are amazed by how well it cooks our meals. I am looking forward to using it to bake some cakes, so watch this space for some fresh recipes and ideas!

Seeing my brother & his girlfriend

This month, it was my mum's birthday and my brother and his girlfriend came to visit from Wales to celebrate with the whole family. Nathan's girlfriend made the most amazing Victoria sponge cake and we all went out for a meal to mark the occasion properly. It was so good to see them both, even though it was just for a night, and also to spend that time with my wonderful mum.
