Grasmere Gingerbread: A Slice of Windermere

I have wanted to do this blog post for a while now, because the gingerbread is just so incredible. This Grasmere gingerbread recipe was invented by Sarah Nelson in 1854 in the heart of the English Lake District.

An amazing cross between a cake and biscuit, the flavour is unlike anything else I have ever tried. It's not what you would expect a piece of gingerbread to taste like, look like or even feel like. I've made gingerbread before, but it's a lot smoother and more bready, rather than cakey.

This, however, is crumbly, has a gorgeous snap to it and is incredibly buttery. I just love how different this gingerbread is, so much so, I think everyone should give it a try. You can order your Grasmere gingerbread here, but take a look at what it looks like in this blog post!
