Introducing Our SAGE 'Barista Express Impress' Coffee Machine
We did it! We finally bought a new coffee machine after seven years with my trusty Delonghi bean-to-cup automatic coffee machine. We've had out eye on semi-automatic coffee machine from SAGE for over a year now.
Having done some research, we thought we'd take the plunge and upgrade, as coffee lovers, to something more fancy. It's definitely not a machine for people who want something simple, where you just press a few buttons and Bob's Your Uncle.
It does require some knowledge and appreciation for Barista skill and speciality coffee machines. But if you're here because you genuinely are interested in the SAGE 'Barista Express Impress' coffee machine, then you've come to the right place if you'd like a good look at it before you make the purchase.
I'll be giving you an overview of it, mainly in the words of SAGE themselves so that I can make sure all the key features and benefits are touched upon. Something else to mention is that it is available in different colours, including black.
So, you don't have to choose the stainless steel one if you don't want to. Also, I'll be linking the machine at the end of the blog post just for your reference in terms of price point and reviews. It also comes with a 2 year manufacturer guarantee. So, now that's out of the way, let's get into it!
An overview of the SAGE 'Barista Express Impress' coffee machine
Seeing as the machine is only a few days old, I won't give you a run down of how it works or how to use it just yet, as we're still trying to perfect the process going from an automatic bean-to-cup coffee machine, but for now let me show you what the machine looks like, together with a quick description of its features.
I'm going to be taking a lot of the information about this coffee machine from SAGE themselves, so as to make sure that you're getting the most accurate and up to date information about this generation of semi-automatic coffee machine.
"Experience third wave speciality coffee at home, made possible by the 4 keys formula. Our espresso machines incorporate the 4 keys formula used by professional cafe machines. Designed to use the right dose of freshly ground beans, ensure precise temperature control, optimal water pressure and create true microfoam milk essential for latte art. You're only a touch away." - SAGE.
"Intelligent dosing with an integrated conical burr grinder with 25 grind settings. The dose is automatically calculated based on the last grind, ensuring it's ready for the next use." - SAGE.
"Precision measurement auto corrects the next dose. If your dose required a bit more or a bit less, the intelligent dose system auto corrects, remembering the last dose and tamp outcome and adjusting it to ensure you achieve the perfect dose this time." - SAGE.
"Assisted tamping. Delivers a constant 10kg impression to your dose, finishing it with a 7º barista twist for a more polished puck." - SAGE.
"54 mm stainless steel portafilter delivers full flavour with dual and single wall filters. Full bodied coffee with rich and complex flavours is created using the ideal dose of 18g of freshly ground beans delivered by a professional style 54mm stainless steel portafilter." - SAGE.
"Low pressure pre-infusion followed by 9 bar extraction. An opulent, creamy and caramel coloured espresso starts with low pressure pre-infusions, followed by a high pressure (9 bar) extraction process delivered via our 15 bar Italian pump." - SAGE.
"Manual hand-crafted microfoam. Our powerful steam wands are designed to quickly turn milk into smooth microfoam with a delicious silky texture, ready for pouring latte art." - SAGE.
There's even a handy little storage tray behind the drip tray. You can keep the other portafiter sizes and variants in there when they're not being used. It's also really easy to take out and empty. The other great thing is that it's quite deep, so you don't have to empty the drip tray very often.
The other thing I love about this new coffee machine is the size of the water tank. You don't have to refill it as often, even at the rate we use it. All in all, it's very convenient to use for someone who's generally quite busy!
Don't worry! I'll be writing another blog post giving you some hints and tips on using this machine, once we've perfected the technique. Keep your eyes peeled for a beginner's guide very soon. It's a lot easier to use than it looks.
