A Review: Vitamin E Bi-Phase Serum from The Body Shop

I haven't used a serum before, so I thought the best place to start that was a reasonable price was to try this one from The Body Shop. I love the Vitamin E range anyway, so with a wealth of difference skincare products to match and go alongside my routine, it only made sense to incorporate this serum into the collection.

What I do is I cleanse my face and then I apply the Vitamin E toner. After that, and while the face is still damp, I apply this serum and wait for it to sink into the face. After that, if it's part of my nighttime skincare routine, I will apply the Vitamin E night cream

Or I'll go for the Vitamin C moisturising gel if I'm doing my routine in the morning. Either way, I have been using this serum at least once a day for the past month and I now feel ready to be able to write a proper review on it. So here we go!

What does the Vitamin E Bi-Phase Serum smell like?

As you'd expect from a serum, it doesn't smell like a lot. It's not fragrant or aromatic at all. Simply, if I was to say it had a smell, it has a hint of freshness about it. It doesn't smell like chemicals and it doesn't smell unpleasant. It does have a faint scent, but nothing that is overpowering or off-putting. I'd recommend it if you don't like skincare products that smell artificial or that are too strong.

What is the Vitamin E Bi-Phase Serum consistency like?

The consistency is what you'd expect from a serum. It's watery but not not too thin. It's slightly gel-like, but it's not as thick as a gel. It sits somewhere in between that. Once you use the pipette to apply the drops to your face, you can feel them start to dribble down the cheeks, so it's just the right consistency for a facial serum. Where some serums feel watery, like they're not doing much, it's clear that this contains more skin-enhancing properties, just from the consistency.

How well does the Vitamin E Bi-Phase Serum apply on the skin?

Just like any serum, you apply it to the face using a pipette, placing two or three drops onto the cheek bones and them smoothing into the skin. It's thin enough that only three drops is enough to cover the entire face, so it has good coverage.

It's not something I'm looking to keep repurchasing on a regular basis, because it's expensive to be buying monthly or even bi-monthly, so the fact that a little bit goes a long way is a huge plus.

Also, it doesn't feel as though it's not doing anything. You don't need a lot of it for it to make a difference to the skin. In conclusion, the smallest amount has good coverage on the face and skin all without compromising on the results.

What results does the Vitamin E Bi-Phase Serum give?

The results this serum gives are actually quite surprising. I was expecting to try it with no real benefits, to be honest, as though it was a bit of a gimmick. However, I was wrong. I have been so impressed with it that now I feel like I can't do my skincare routine without it.

It makes the skin feel soft, but also smooth. Where that was possible with the moisturiser alone, I feel like the combination of the toner, the serum and the moisturiser has elevated my skin even more.

I do notice a difference when I do my skincare routine without the serum, to the point where I can't wait for the end of the day or the next morning to come so I can use it again. I am impressed with the results it gives and, as a result, I'll continue to repurchase it for as long as I can.
