A Recipe | Baked Camembert Perfect for a Festive Cheese Night
It's never been easier to whip up a festive dish for Christmas, especially when the oven will do it all for you. It's such a festive, Christmassy meal that screams nothing but cosiness and deliciousness - what more could you want at this of time year?
Oh, and if you're looking for a great wine to drink with it, opt for a classic Sauvignon Blanc or another white wine that is fruity and sweet to cut through the sharp tang that camembert offers. So how can you make the ideal festive camembert at home? Let me tell you:
Serves: 4
Prep time: 5 minutes
Cook time: 15-20 minutes
Ingredients
*1 whole camembert
*2 sprigs of thyme
*1 spinkle of chilli flakes
*Thick, crusty slices of sourdough bread
*Individual serving of dry white wine (optional)
Method
1. Preheat your oven to around 200C or gas mark 6 if it's a gas oven
2. Take the camembert out of the box, unwrap it and then place it back in
3. Slash the top of the cheese skin on the top, marking out an 'X' shape
4. Top the slashes with thyme sprigs, chilli flakes and a few drops of dry white wine (if you want to)
5. Place in the oven, on a baking tray and leave it to cook for between 15 and 20 minutes, until the cheese runs gooey
6. Slice your thick sourdough bread while it cooks and toast it lightly so that it warms through
7. Serve your camembert, keeping it in its box. Place it on a cheese board and place the bread around it so that everyone can dig in
