5 Things to Do On New Year's Eve That Isn't a Party
There are loads of people who love to celebrate New Year's Eve, but a party isn't for everyone. I know that it's not the way I like to celebrate New Year anyway. Those days are far behind me now.
So how else can you bring in the New Year without having, or attending, a party? Let me give you a few of my own ideas! Here are five things to do on New Year's Eve that isn't a party.
1. Host a dinner party
Something you can do that is fun and not something that we do all the time, is host a dinner party. Now I know that has the word 'party' in it, but don't worry. You can invite guests round when you want and enjoy the New Year celebrations with a simple glass of wine, a roaring fire and Jules Holland on the telly. You don't have to put on a load, booze-filled party, or attend one. Have a chilled night in the comfort of your own home this New Year's Eve.
2. Have a games night
Something even more relaxing then a dinner party is to have a games night instead. This way, people can show up when they want, wearing what they want and play what they want.
There are no expectations other than to have fun and bring in the New Year with some festive fun. Instead of a New Year's Eve party, have a games night that everyone can attend - adults, children, parents ad grandparents!
3. Eat out for dinner
You don't have to restrict yourself to having dinner at home, or going to someone else's house for a spot of grub. Why not take the pressure off completely and go out for some nosh?
There's no obligation, you can eat what you want and you don't have to worry about cleaning up afterwards either. What's not to love about going out for dinner rather than going to a New Year's Eve party?
4. Spend the evening with family
My favourite thing to do - spending a chilled evening with the family snuggled up on a sofa drinking wine and just generally having a relaxing time. You can wear what you like and you don't have to worry about food either.
Either bring some nibbles or pick something up on the way and you're good to go for the evening. Hunker down on New Year's Eve with the family rather than hit up a New Year's Eve party that's loud and goes on late into the night.
5. Enjoy a pamper evening
If you're really not up to doing anything or seeing anyone this New Year's Eve, then another thing you can do instead of attending a New Year's Eve party is run yourself a hot bath, stick on a face ask and just generally pamper yourself. If a glass of bubbly isn't your thing, then have a hot chocolate instead. The possibilities are endless with this option.
