My 2024 in Review

I can't quite believe that I am writing a 2024 in review blog post, but here we are! With that in mind, I wanted to round up everything that happened in 2024 that I either loved, was thankful for or that was a particular highlight that I would look back on in decades' times. So let me talk you through my 2024! I hope you enjoy :)

Getting married

Of course, the biggest thing that happened to me in 2024 was getting married in the March. We had a very small church wedding and celebrated the occasion at Prestwold Hall in Lougborough. It was an amazing day.

There's nothing about it that I would change. You can take a look at the blog post I wrote about it at the time here, if you'd like to read about it in more detail! Also, take a look at some of our official photographs below. So that' the first thing that happened in 2024 that just had to be at the top of my list!

Having an amazing hen do

Of course, what with having a wedding, you have to have a hen party. Mine was held in Derby and we had a lovely meal, did some cocktail making and we went for some chilled out drinks at the Cosy Club to finish the night off. It was a lovely night with my closest family and friends and I had such a good time. How could this NOT make it onto my 2024 review?!

My 29th birthday

This year, I turned 29. My birthday is in March, and it was actually about five days after my wedding day, so we didn't do a great deal. That and it was only 29, so not a big birthday either.

It was a Thursday this year, so I opted to go out for a quiet meal with my parents, followed by a Saturday spent at the garden centre, because that's one of my favourite things to do . So I figured that, another year older, I would add it to my 2024 review!

A honeymoon to remember

Keeping with the wedding theme, the next logical thing to go and enjoy is the honeymoon! We went to California on a mini road trip for nearly three weeks and it was one of the best times of my life.

We flew premium economy with Virgin Atlantic straight to San Francisco, followed by Yosemite, Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, LA, Hollywood, Disneyland and Universal Studios. As our trip neared the end, we then drove along the Big Sur, taking in all of the amazing views, in a Mustang!

We made stops in Monterrey, Morrow Bay and Carmel-by-the-Sea, before driving all the way back to San Francisco again to fly home. All of the pictures below have been posted in order of our road trip, so you can take a look at some of our activities along the way.

Also, I did write a dedicated blog post about our honeymoon trip, which you can read here, if you would like :). It includes more detailed run downs of our time in each place, including things like Alcatraz and other locations, so have fun reading that!

Sorting the garden out

This year saw us completely overhaul our concrete jungle garden with a badly-built conservatory on the back into something more modern and usable. We almost started again in some cases, bringing the level back down to the height of the driveway, which was well over a foot.

While we still aren't completely finished, it's done for the most part. We just need to tile our new flower beds and put a new front gate up and we should be done/ We have also recently added some outdoor lighting and some new power sockets to the garage.

So we now have power inside and outside as and when needed, which makes mowing the grass a breeze. Oh yes and that's also new. We laid grass in September to soften up the look of the garden. I'm sure I'll update you all again in the spring/summer when we've finished off the aesthetics of it all!

AC/DC at Wembley Stadium

Something else that happened this year was that we went to Wembley Stadium in July to watch the famous rock legends, AC/DC. It was such a great day, filled with fun and some amazing music. While I'd go again should they decide to tour, I feel happy that I have had the privilege of watching them live. That's why I wanted to make sure that this made it into my 2024 review.

Cotswolds getaway

In August, we went away with my family and extended family to the Cotswolds. We spent a few days there, all in all, just romaing around, going for walks and eating and drinking amazing food. It was a summer weekend getaway that we all needed and I thoroughly enjoyed it, hence why it's made it into my 2024 round up!

Tom's 30th birthday

This was something else significant that happened this year - Tom's 30th birthday. We spent the day drinking cocktails and playing games at Roxy's Ballroom, followed by a family meal at Brown's in Nottingham.

We then went to a spa day the following weekend, which I'll get onto in a moment. But for now, Tom's 30th birthday deserves a spot on my 2024 in review post! If you want to know what we did in more detail, or to see more photographs, then take a look at this blog post here, where I talk all about it :)

An Eden Hall spa day

For Tom's birthday, I bought us a spa day experience, which Tom had never done before. It included an entire day at Eden Hall Spa, complete with a three course lunch and several drinks that we enjoyed throughout the day. It was such a wonderful experience that I wanted to mark it here in my 2024 in review blog post!

Brighton hen do

In October, myself, my mum and my sister went to Brighton for the weekend in honour of my future sister-in-law's hen party. We spent the weekend playing crazy golf, doing a drag brunch, which was so much fun, and we also had an Italian meal to finish. It was a weekend packed with action and I loved every minute, hence why it's ended up here on my blog.

Being bridesmaid for my best friend's wedding

The end of the year, on 30th November, my best friend got married and I was one of her bridesmaids. I am the second on in from the right, in case you were wondering. Doesn't the bride look beautiful?! It was a gorgeous day and I felt so lucky to be a part of it.

One big family Christmas

This year, we spent our Christmas period in Wales, seeing my brother and future sister-in-law (they're getting married spring next year). It's the first year where I've spent Christmas away from home, so it was a big deal for me this year, hence why I have decided to mark it in this year's round-up of 2024. That's also where I'm going to conclude the year, because in just two days, we'll be entering a brand new one. I can't wait to see what 2025 has in store for us:)
