Welcome to Blogmas day 17! I'll be publishing a festive blog post every single day on the run up to Christmas, so keep checking back to see what Christmassy content I publish in the next few days.
Today, I'm going to be giving you a few reasons why you should choose to have a real Christmas tree; not just this year, but every year! Let's see if I can persuade you to make the switch.
Every year I find myself having the same argument with people about real vs. artificial trees. But while everyone is different and make their choices for their own reasons, I just couldn't help but write a blog post about why I think everyone should have a real Christmas tree.
Once you have one, you will never go back to having a fake tree. I have only ever grown up with real Christmas trees, so there's a lot of nostalgia for me, but if you're on the fence, then here are five reasons why you should choose a real Christmas tree year after year.
1. It's an enjoyable experience
Going to pick out a real Christmas tree is just as exciting and fun as bringing it home and decorating it up. Where we go, they have a lovely little Christmas market where you can get food and drinks and you can buy some handmade gifts for people as well. There's also a choir and it's all dog-friendly, so you get to have a lot of cuddles with some furry friends.
2. They look & smell incredible
Real Christmas trees have a look and smell that is just unrivalled. No amount of cinnamon and spice scents would be able to outdo the smell you get from a fir Christmas tree. I associate it with childhood Christmasses digging through our presents on Christmas morning. There's also something nice about coming downstairs in the morning, opening the door to the living room and smelling the wonderful pine scent - just amazing!
3. It adds to the overall festive feel of your home
Nothing says "Christmas" like real evergreen foliage, and a real Christmas tree is the perfect way to make the same statement over the festive period. It looks the part and, as already said, it smells amazing, so nothing could be more festive in my eyes than having a real Christmas tree adorning your living space.
4. You won't have to worry about storing it
Storing an artificial Christmas tree every year can be a pain, especially if you've gone for one that's equally as tall or as full as a real tree. Not only will you not have to worry about storing your Christmas tree, you can also help to keep your carbon footprint low as it can be easily recycled and turned into mulch for local parks and walking trails.
5. It's the most sustainable option
Also, real trees, once you've finished with them, can be replanted in the garden, so you can give them a new lease of life. If not, then they can be recycled and mulched to be used on public spaces.
In addition, and unlike artificial trees, real Christmas trees are grown in the UK and have not been shipped from thousands of miles away, like plastic trees made in China. This is just another environmental benefit to having a real Christmas tree this festive season.
