How to Make a Flat White at Home
I love me a flat white. Whenever we go out for a coffee, I will, 99% of the time, order a flat white. I find them to be more flavoursome and they leave me feeling a lot less full - means more room for cake, haha.
Now, because I love them so much, I decided to see how I can make the perfect flat white at home, and do you know what? I think I've smashed it. So I want to share the recipe I use and the technique I follow, with you. Here's to how make the perfect flat white at home!
What you will need
*35ml of espresso
*Semi-skimmed milk
*A pouring jug
*A milk thermometer
*A milk steamer
*A 150-200ml capacity coffee cup
How to make the perfect flat white at home
Step one
Make a 35ml cup of espresso. It's always best to do that using a bean-to-cup machine. But I'm sure you can get espresso coffee pods, which should work in much the same way.
Step two
You're going to need a steamer for this step, together with a metal pouring jug and a milk thermometer. Fill the jug with just the right amount of milk needed to fill a flat white cup, which is going to be quite small. Then, take the jug with the milk in and dip the steamer nozzle into it. Steam the milk until the steamer nozzle is about 1-2cm deep in milk foam.
Step three
Once the milk has steamed, take the cup with the espresso in it and pour the milk out of the jug and into the centre of the espresso. Do this in a circular motion until the cup is almost full. Just before you fill it, stop for a second and then proceed to pour the foam out of the jug and onto the top of the beverage. This will give you a cool pattern on the top. However, most of the time, I end up with a perfect circle instead. No matter how the milk comes out, it will taste incredible.
