5 Tips for Alfresco Dining
This might sound silly in Britain, but sometimes, we do get the opportunity to sit outside and enjoy a bit of alfresco dining. But what happens if it's raining? Do these sorts of gatherings stress you out if you were to host? How do you keep the wasps at bay? I'll be covering it all in this blog post, giving you some tips for alfresco dining in the UK.
1. Try to cater for everybody
This can be difficult, but when I say 'cater for everyone', I mean everyone. Ask people what their dietary requirements are and make sure the children are catered for also. They're unlikely to eat stuffed peppers or paprika salmon, for example.
Do your best to accommodate for the vegans and the veggies, also. It just makes sure that everyone has a full tummy by the end of the day, regardless of if they're gluten-free or can eat almost every food group under the sun.
2. Be organised
Being as organised as possible before your alfresco dining day makes the whole experience fun and stress-free for all. Whether you do some home baking or home cooking the night before, or have ordered a gazebo online to protect your guests from the rain, it doesn't matter, because if you're organised, you'll soon reap the rewards in the form of a great alfresco dining experience.
3. Don't let the weather stop you
It's impossible to get outdoors and sit in your garden in this British weather. If we only ever went out when it was dry and sunny we wouldn't be alfresco dining at all. So be prepared to take on all weathers when eating outside.
Most people these days rely on pergolas or gazebos to keep their guests dry and shielded somewhat from the wind. Don't let the British weather spoil your alfresco dining experience. Be prepared and organised on all fronts.
4. Make it fun
Do something that makes the outdoor dining experience fun. Whether you choose to dress up your table, have a theme or have some games set up throughout the day, make your alfresco dining experience as fun as possible for both yourself and your guests.
You could even switch up the food you have or choose to have an afternoon tea as opposed to traditional snacky bits you'd have at a picnic. Make it a fun and memorable experience for all this summer.
5. Keep the wasps away
There's a phrase that's used that goes something like; "like a wasp at a picnic". It's used to describe something that's annoying and relentless and that tries to spoil the great time you're having. Well wasps do just that, literally, when it comes to being outdoors and eating and drinking.
If you want to stay having a good time and not have to worry about being stung by wasps or having food contaminated when they land on it, then do your best to keep the wasps away. Here are some of our top tips.
